In the book, there are two QR codes (page 31 & page 37).  Scan these and read the corresponding articles (1o Thoughts on How to Go Digital and Why We Should & 1o Ways YouTube Can Engage Your Class Now). Write about how at least two of the ideas put forth in either of these articles will impact your teaching and, as a result, your students’ learning.

discusses the importance of giving our students a voice.   What is one way you give students a voice in your class?  Describe, in detail, an additional way you could give students a voice in your class? class. Once you’ve implemented it, share your experience.

encourages schools to ditch the books in favor of the Internet and computers, which offer a more robust, interactive type of learning.   Cite two statements from this video that you either agree or disagree with.  Explain.

Dan Pink, in his TED talk, “The Puzzle Of Motivation” describes Sam Glucksberg’s study of The Candle Problem. How does The Candle Problem relate to what goes on in our schools?  Do you think there is a mismatch between what science knows and what education does? Explain.   Would you prefer your students to be compliant or engaged?  If your answer is compliant, why is this more important than being engaged?  If your answer is engaged, how can you give your students more autonomy?
